Emma Knights with a keyboard

Emma Knights is a graduate of both the Elder Conservatorium, Adelaide (classical performance) and the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), Perth (contemporary music). She is a full-time musician who has toured professionally with Opera Queensland and internationally with Vintage Vendetta and with her one-woman show, The Piano Men. She has worked with the education team at State Opera of South Australia for their vacation care program and she has produced and performed in shows for Out of the Square (Come Together Band and Children Shows) and Something on Saturday (Space Encounters and Tales of Adventure) programs locally in South Australia.

Emma has been accompanying choirs since the age of 16 when she accompanied the Noarlunga City Choir. She works, and has worked, with a number of private schools and community choirs as accompanist and director and currently accompanies three groups for Sing Australia as well as the Birds of a Feather choir. Emma Knights was an invited accompanist for the 2017 International Congress of Vocal Teachers in Sweden and has worked for both the Catholic Schools Festival of Music and the Primary Schools Festival of Music for many years.

“She accompanies Doherty with sensitivity and the sort of prescience that only fine accompanists ever achieve.” Pat Wilson

Her cabaret music directing and accompanying has taken her across the globe. Not averse to also playing a character, Emma has been a professional piano playing robot and her character in Two Dames, a Piano and a Whole Lot of Giggle Water is well-loved.

Emma is an accomplished pit musician having played for many musical productions since 1998. She has also musically directed numerous shows with great successes. A highlight being the band for Buddy, where the audience stayed in their seats through the entire playout music!

She curated (and co-produced with Chris Daniels Productions) the Adelaide Fringe Hub LIVE on 5 at the Adelaide Oval in 2017 and curated the initial year of the Fringe Hub at the National Wine Centre in 2018. Always looking for a new challenge, she has curated another new venue in 2019 at the Morphettville Racecourse.

Emma is available to assist performers with musicianship, audition prep, exams and auditions so please feel free to get in touch through the contact us page.
