WE LAUNCHED OUR NEWEST LOCATION AT GLENELG ON THE 22ND DEC 2019!
What an amazing afternoon we had! I knew when Sandy, Tony and I met at the 2016 South Australian Tourism Awards and we both received Silver, that we would be long term buddies! When they told me they were launching Adelaide Ocean Safari in Glenelg this year and wanted to be involved with Floating Melodies I was so excited. And then yesterday..we launched!
Those on board may tell you it took me a little while to get my sea legs but there is something truly special about being out on the wide open water. The location is stunning, although our hearts were with those affected by the bushfires where the Adelaide Hills were covered with smoke. The lovely duo of Nicolina and Dean Barcello dedicated one of their tunes to those affected and provided us with some wonderful soulfilled Christmas tunes to put us all in the Christmas spirit.
We featured Adelaide Hills 79 Degree Gin in a special Gin & Soda cocktail as well as numerous other local food businesses in our Christmas goodies box including the delicious Red Cacao mince pies and egg nog truffles!
The last 18 months have been a difficult time for Floating Melodies with the location we had previously been on for 100 cruises across five years going under new management and not allowing us to continue hiring the venue. Since then we have been on a hot air balloon and had cruises on the West Lakes Princess and Dolphin Explorer trying to find a new home and what works for each setting. It was almost like starting over again. It was heartbreaking and has been hard going from 24 cruises a year to only 8 across the last 18 months both financially and emotionally.
All that is in the past though and I think this new location is going to be truly wonderful. A big shout out to all the businesses and the community that has supported Floating Melodies over years and I look forward to seeing you on the Adelaide Ocean Safari cruise soon!
