Join Fraulein Artemisia LeFay and pianist Renee Guerrero as they employ the magic of music to time travel back to the exuberant and artful Weimar Republic…
Weimarian Revolution, making its Australian debut, is a labor of love developed by New York City-based chanteuse and actress Artemisia, who is an avid enthusiast of the culture, music, and silent films of Berlin in the 1920s-1940s. This is a very unique time in history that saw the shift away from the flamboyantly artistic, liberal, and expressive Weimar Republic to the monstrously unjust Third Reich.
The program showcases painstakingly researched songs by Jewish and LGBTQ+ composers from Germany who used their art to resist against the face of oppression and give hope and asylum to its listeners.
